Here we go: a packing list

Clothes

  • Pants x3 (hiking pants, jeans, green casual pants)

  • Shorts x3 (two with zipper side pockets for storing wallet in big cities)

  • T-Shirts x6

  • Collard shirts x5

  • Cashmere hoodie and zip up hoodie, both very lightweaight

  • Underwear x12

  • Socks x12 (nine pair ankle, two wool, one compression)

  • Outside gear: two running shorts, two tank tops, swimming goggles, bike shorts, two bathing suits

  • Sleep shorts and shirt

Outwear and shoes

  • Goretex Waterproof shell and Patagonia puffer

  • Long underwear top and bottoms (will be ditched after Mt. Kinabalu hike)

  • Hiking shoes, running shoes, tennis shoes, rainbow flip flops, disposable hotel slippers

Electronics and digital items

  • Kindle and downloaded books

  • iPad with Magic Keyboard (in place of laptop)

  • GoPro and accessories (extra batteries, waterproof casing)

  • Spare charger pack, three cords, two universal adapters, two usb / lightening cable adapters

  • iPhone (will also serve as the main camera), AirPods, and Fitbit

  • VPN subscription

Accessories and games

  • Moleskin journal in leather cover, with two extra journals, and 6-8 pens

  • Small portable speaker

  • Monopoly Deal (card game), SkipBo, the Moth storytelling cards

  • Lonely planets: Hong Kong, Borneo, Sri Lanka, and Central Asia

  • Cork ball (for back rolling)

Meds and sleeping

  • Dop kit for day-to-day

  • Tylenol, cold meds, Imodium, Zyrtec, Z Pack,

  • Toothbrush, toothpaste, floss

  • Lotion, sunscreen, hair stuff, Burt’s bees

  • Earplugs and eye masks

  • Vaccinations (Tdap and Typhoid; Hep A & B were already done)

Carrying equipment

  • Large backpack (and AirTag for tracking), plus two zipper-sized locks

  • Smaller Timbuktu backpack (day pack)

  • Two ultralight duffle bags and three lightweight canvass bags

  • Ziplocks— 5-6 gallon and quart sized

  • Moneybelt and small pouch for important items (passport, Int’l drivers license)

  • Six packing cubes, stuff sack for dirty clothes, super light dry bag
